Amsterdam is a north of Canora lying Weiler ( Hamlet ) in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan . It is centrally located in Buchanan No. 304 . The Highway 9 extends close to the locality.
Amsterdam was founded by Dutch immigrants at the turn of the 20th century and in its heyday had a post office, grain elevator , garage and school. Today the place has less than 25 inhabitants, most of whom are of Ukrainian origin.
