Ennepe Office

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ennepe office was an office in the Hagen district until 1887 and then in the Schwelm district until 1923 .

The office was established as Mayor Ennepe in 1817 as the successor to Mairie Ennepe, who in turn was founded a few years earlier under French rule in the Ruhr department of the Grand Duchy of Berg and was assigned to the canton of Schwelm in the Hagen district. Prussia provisionally administered the Grand Duchy after the French had withdrawn in the Generalgouvernement of Berg before it was finally awarded the territory of the Grand Duchy at the Congress of Vienna . After the founding of the Province of Westphalia , Prussia introduced its own administrative structures, initially largely maintaining the French administrative structure. The mayor's office Ennepe was assigned to the district of Hagen, which in turn succeeded the arrondissement of Hagen.

The mayor's office included the rural communities ( farmers ) Mylinghausen ( renamed Gevelsberg on May 1, 1867 ) Mühlinghausen , Oelkinghausen and Schweflinghausen .

Gevelsberg received on 1 February 1886, the city charter , left office Ennepe and now formed its own office Gevelsberg . In 1887 the office was split off from the Hagen district and assigned to the newly founded Schwelm district.
