The seat of the official administration was in the city of Welzow . The Welzow office was dissolved in 2003. At the end of 2002 it had 4553 inhabitants.

Geographical location

The Welzow office bordered in the north on the offices of Altdöbern and Drebkau / Niederlausitz , in the east on the free city of Spremberg , in the south on the Free State of Saxony and in the west again on the Altdöbern office.

history

On August 31, 1992, the Minister of the Interior of Brandenburg gave his consent to the establishment of the Welzow office. September 10, 1992 was set as the date on which the office was established. The office was based in the managing city of Welzow and initially consisted of five municipalities in what was then the Spremberg district (in the order in which they were named in the official gazette):

  1. Thimble
  2. Haidemühl
  3. Proschim
  4. Black pump
  5. Welzow

The Welzow office had 9,103 residents at the end of 1992. On January 1, 1995, the municipality of Kausche moved from the Welzow office to the Drebkau / Niederlausitz office. On September 27, 1998, the community of Schwarze Pump was incorporated into the city of Spremberg. The Welzow office thus consisted of only two communities.

On October 26, 2003, the Proschim community was incorporated into the city of Welzow by law. The Welzow office was dissolved, the city of Welzow vacant. The community of Proschim sued the constitutional court of the state of Brandenburg against their incorporation into the city of Welzow. The action was partially rejected, the rest dismissed.

With the law on the dissolution of the community Haidemühl , the community was dissolved. The date on which three quarters of the residents registered as main resident in the municipality actually relocated was set as the date of dissolution. The lower municipal supervisory authority established the date as December 31, 2005.

The community of Haidemühl was devastated on January 1, 2006 and had to give way to the Welzow-Süd opencast mine . Most of the residents were relocated to the newly built district of Haidemühl in the city of Spremberg. The district of the former municipality belongs to the city of Welzow.

Official directors

In 1995, Helfried Skoddow was elected mayor of Welzow and official director of the Welzow office. He was voted out of office on January 13, 2003. Detlef Pusch temporarily took over the official business of mayor and official director. He was followed by Rainer Jestel as mayor and last official director of the Welzow office.
