Official Journal of the European Union
The Official Journal of the European Union ( OJ ) is the official publication gazette of the European Union . In its function it is comparable to the Federal Law Gazette in Germany and the Federal Law Gazette for the Republic of Austria .
history
Precursor to the Official Journal of the European Union was the publishing service of the European Coal and Steel since 1952 published Official Journal of the European Coal and Steel . Its first issue was published in four languages ( German , French , Italian and Dutch ) and appeared for the first time on December 30, 1952. When the European Communities were founded, it was renamed the Official Journal of the European Communities .
With the entry into force of the Treaty of Nice , the Official Journal of the European Union has been published every day from Tuesday to Saturday in the official languages of the European Union since February 1, 2003 . It is the only periodical in the world that is published daily in so many languages. The Official Journal is published by the Publications Office of the European Union .
The Official Journal has been available online since 1998 via the EUR-Lex legal portal . With effect from July 1, 2013, the electronic edition of the Official Journal is legally binding in accordance with Article 5 of Regulation (EU) No. 216/2013.
Rows
The official gazette in its present form consists of two related series:
- The L series contains legal provisions such as regulations , directives , decisions and resolutions , recommendations and opinions of the institutions of the European Union . In the OJ. L the list of references of the applicable Community law is also published.
- The C series includes communications and notices as the most important summaries of the judgments of the well European Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance to call.
In addition, there is a so-called supplement with the S series , which contains notices of public contracts, which can also be followed via the Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) platform . In the C series there is also a section that contains only electronically published documents, the so-called Official Journal C E.
