Municipal District Office for the 6th and 7th district

The municipal district office for the 6th and 7th district is under monument protection ( list entry standing) administration building of the municipality of Vienna .

Building

The building in Vienna 7th, Hermanngasse 24–26, in the Neubau district , was built in 1909/1910 according to plans by Josef Pürzl and Moritz Servé as a four-storey building in the neo-baroque style with decorations of Art Nouveau . Above the main entrance, facing Kandlgasse, is a tower-like structure in which there is a public clock supervised by Municipal Department 33 .

The anteroom has a stucco ribbed ceiling with circular motifs. The staircase was designed as a generous Art Nouveau staircase with straight stairs, marble balustrades and ornamental wrought iron bars as well as ornamental Art Nouveau glass windows.

Since Hermanngasse bends twice at right angles a short distance apart in the area of the office building, the district office represents a corner building with both fronts on the same street, which is rare in Vienna.
