Amy Baserga (born September 29, 2000 in Zurich ) is a Swiss biathlete.

Life and origin

Amy Baserga was born in Zurich, grew up in Einsiedeln , about 40 km away , and works for the local SC Einsiedeln .

Career

Amy Baserga played her first international competitions at the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2017 in Brezno - Osrblie . One year later she won her first medal at the 2018 Biathlon Junior European Championships on the Pokljuka plateau in Slovenia with silver in the individual competition, followed by a bronze medal in the pursuit competition at the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2018 in Otepää . With silver in the sprint and gold in the pursuit, the 2019 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Brezno-Orsblie were even more successful, at the 2019 Biathlon Junior European Championships in Sjusjøen , Norway , she won the silver medal in the single mixed relay together with Sebastian Stalder . In winter 2019/20 she started in the IBU Junior Cup . Up to the 2020 Biathlon Junior World Championships , she had competed in five races, of which she won three and finished second in the two remaining. At the Junior World Championships in Lenzerheide , she secured the bronze medal in the individual competition, with a fourth place in the sprint she missed the medal ranks by only 1.5 seconds. After the Junior World Championships, she started in the IBU Cup , in her first race, the super sprint in Martell , after setting the fastest time in qualification, she immediately achieved a podium finish behind Ingela Andersson and Yevgenia Pavlova . Back in the Junior Cup in Bayerisch Eisenstein , she won the super sprint there, but in the sprint she only achieved 46th place with four shooting errors.
