Amy Dombroski
Amy Dombroski (born September 9, 1987 in Jericho , Vermont ; † October 3, 2013 in Begijnendijk , Belgium ) was an American cyclist .
As a teenager, Amy Dombroski skied and attended Burke Mountain Academy in Burke , then turned to cycling. Between 2006 and 2009, she was American champion in cyclo-cross races (U23) four times . In 2008 she was also third in the road race and in the individual time trial of the national championships (U23). In 2010, she finished 14th at the Cyclocross World Championships , and she was US runner-up in the mountain bike marathon .
In 2011, Dombroski moved to Belgium during the season to race in Europe. In 2012 she became a member of the Belgian Young Telenet-Fidea team , one of the first important Belgian teams to accept women.
On October 3, 2013, Amy Dombroski and her team trained on a street in Sint-Katelijne-Waver , using a scooter as a pacemaker . She collided with a truck and died. The driver of the scooter survived the accident.
