Sint-Katelijne-Waver is a Belgian municipality in the Flanders region with 20,792 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It is located south of the river Nete and consists of the main town and the district Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver .
Mechelen is 6 kilometers south-west, Antwerp 18 km north-west and Brussels approx. 28 km south-south-west.
The next motorway exits are at Mechelen and Rumst on the A1 / E 19 . The municipality has a regional train station on the Brussels – Antwerp line; others are u. a. in Rumst and Lier . In addition, national express trains stop in Mechelen. The Antwerp International Airport is the nearest regional airport and Brussels-Zaventem near the capital Brussels is an airport of international importance.
The largest vegetable-growing area in Belgium with large greenhouse areas extends around Sint-Katelijne-Waver, the place is the seat of BelOrta (the largest cooperative vegetable and fruit exchange in Europe) and the headquarters of the largest European vegetable and fruit processor Greenyard Foods .
