Kalmthout is a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp with 18,695 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019), of which 1589 are Dutch . It comprises the four villages of Kalmthout Dorf, Heide, Achterbroek and Nieuwmoer.
Kalmthout is located at three train stations : Heide, Kalmthout and Kijkuit, on a railway line between Antwerp and Essen (Belgium) on the Dutch border . Both Heide and Kalmthout have kept their old station buildings.
The three members of the Flemish folk group Laïs come from Kalmthout.
The Jelena and Robert Belder Arboretrum in Kalmthout is one of the most important gardens in Belgium. The English gardener Russell Page was buried in the garden .
A Suske and Wiske museum was set up in a house where the comic artist Willy Vandersteen lived .
