Amy Yoder Begley

Amy Yoder Begley (born January 11, 1978 in Goshen , Indiana ) is an American long-distance runner .

Career

During her studies, Begley was twice NCAA champion: 2000 indoors over 5000 m and 2001 outdoors over 10,000 m .

Thereafter, benefits stagnated until she was diagnosed with celiac disease in January 2006 . The switch to a gluten- free diet improved her well-being so much that in 2008 she qualified third in the US eliminations for the Olympic Games in Beijing with 31: 43.60 minutes , where she over 10,000 m in 32: 38.28 min came in 26th place.

In 2009 she won national championship titles indoors over 3000 m in 8: 53.27 minutes and outdoors over 10,000 m in 31: 22.69 minutes. At the World Athletics Championships in Berlin, she improved again and was sixth best non-African in 31: 13.78 min.

Amy Yoder Begley is 1.63 meters tall and weighs 53 kg. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Exercise Science and Biomechanics and has been married to Andrew Begley, a gym buddy from high school, since 2000. She lives in Beaverton ( Oregon ), where she worked as part of the Nike Oregon Project by Alberto Salazar was supervised as a coach.
