An-Nahud ( Arabic النهود) or en-Nahud (also an-Nuhud ) is a city in Sudan . It is located in Dar Hamar , the area of ​​the Hamar ethnic group , in the savannah southwest of al-Ubayyid in the state of Gharb Kurdufan . According to a calculation, an-Nahud has around 87,000 inhabitants in 2010.

an-Nahud is a center of trade in gum arabic , which is extracted in the area and is exported via al-Ubayyid and Bur Sudan . Peanuts also became an important cash crop in the area in the second half of the 20th century .

The city has an airport ( IATA : NUD; ICAO : HSNH).

history

West African pilgrims on their way to Mecca established the Sufi order of the Tijaniyya in an-Nahud in the 1850s .
