Ana Bárbara
Altagracia Ugalde Motta (born January 10, 1971 in Río Verde , San Luis Potosí ), better known by her stage name Ana Bárbara , is a Mexican singer , actress and model .
Life
The 1.72 meter tall Ana Bárbara initially worked as a model before embarking on her singing career. In 1988 she was elected "Miss San Luis Potosí" and represented her state in the subsequent "Miss Mexico" election .
In 1994 she signed a recording deal with Fonovisa, the musical division of Mexico's media giant Televisa , and released her first album . The song on it, Sacúdeme , was a hit in Mexico. Her success, which began soon after, was also due to the unexpectedly early death of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez , an American singer of Mexican descent, who was extremely successful at the time . Especially since a song was quickly added to the album before it was released in the United States , which was called Selena and was addressed as a homage to the singer who had just been murdered, but at the same time probably aimed at better marketing their own album.
