Ana Mariscal
Ana Mariscal (real Ana María Rodríguez Arroyo ; born July 31, 1921 in Madrid ; † March 28, 1995 there ) was a Spanish actress , director and writer .
Life
Mariscal attended the Instituto de Bachillerato Cervantés and discovered her love for the stage , also through her brother, the actor and director Luis Arroyo . At the age of almost 20 she made her first film and was partner of Alfredo Mayo in La florista de la reina in the leading role . In the following decade, Mariscal made about twenty films, mostly costume films and melodramas, including Raza , which was written by Francisco Franco . Her novel Hombres , published in 1982, also dates from this period .
In the mid-1950s Mariscal shot a lot abroad, especially in Italy and Argentina; In addition, she produced films on her own with the company Bosco Films , which she founded with her husband . Eleven films were made by 1968. She then returned to the stage and toured the Spanish-speaking world with La Compañia de Comedias Ana Mariscal . Besides occasional engagements for television, she made one last film in 1987 and settled in Madrid in 1992. She wrote and gave courses at the University of Valladolid .
Ana Mariscal was married to the cameraman Valentín Javier .
A few months before her death in 1995, she received the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes .
