The Anaconda Verlag is a publishing house , founded by Hansjörg carbon in Cologne of 2004. The program includes popular non-fiction books, cultural history, postcard books, classics and non-books. The publishing house has been part of the Random House publishing group since January 1, 2019 .

Every year the publisher publishes around 100 new publications in the fields of culture, fairy tales, guides, religion, wisdom, philosophy, psychology, popular science, languages, history, art, antiquity and the Middle Ages, as well as literary classics, for example by Jane Austen , Arthur Conan Doyle , Jack London , Jules Verne , Edgar Allan Poe and Oscar Wilde and many more.

In addition to books, Anaconda also sells audio books and non-book items such as calendars, games and blank books.

In 2005 the first volumes of the Anaconda classics series “Classics for a small price” appeared. The series now includes over 200 titles by Baudelaire , Georg Büchner , Lewis Carroll , Fjodor Michailowitsch Dostojewski , Theodor Fontane , Goethe , Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Gogol , Wilhelm Hauff , Heinrich Heine , Friedrich Schiller and Voltaire . In addition to this series, numerous classics from world literature are offered in linen or cabra leather editions. The publisher also publishes a German-English book series that presents classics in two languages.

In the wisdom series over 40 titles were published with titles by Martin Luther , Marc Aurel , Laotse , Buddha and Schopenhauer .

Popular children's and young people's book classics from Pinocchio and Black Beauty to Treasure Island and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn have been published by the publisher as inexpensive, contemporary-looking hardcover editions since 2011 . The swear word and wisdom games, which bring regional characteristics closer, are particularly popular. In addition to the Rhenish "Sackjeseech", Swabian, Bavarian, Low German, Hessian and Swiss swear words are offered as a memo game.

On January 1, 2019, the Random House publishing group took over Anaconda Verlag.
