Anatoly Dmitrijewitsch Golownja ( Russian Анатолий Дмитриевич Головня ; born February 2, 1900 in Simferopol , † June 25, 1982 in Moscow ) was a Soviet cameraman .

Life

Golvovna was a permanent employee of the director Vsevolod Pudovkin and was next to Eduard Tisse and Andrei Moskvin as the most important cameraman of early Soviet cinema . At the beginning of the 20s he studied at the state film school WGIK in Moscow, specializing in camera technology. In 1925, WGIK graduate Pudovkin brought Golovna to him.

From the beginning of both careers, Golownja and Pudowkin formed a permanent team. Golownja knew how to give Pudovkin's productions a new, revolutionary drama through his pictures. His camera positions showed their strongest creative power in The Mother , The End of Saint Petersburg and Storm Over Asia . On the other hand, his sound film images in the Stalin era adapted more and more to the design principles of socialist monumentality and show splendor that were required at that time.

Golownja, who had come to Germany twice for filming in 1928 ( Fyodor Ozeps The Living Body ) and 1931 (Vsevolod Pudowkins Desertir ) , worked alongside his practical work in film theory. He taught at the WGIK from 1934, and from 1939 as part of a professorship. Since the end of the Second World War, Golownja published several books on camera art and camera technology.
