Anatoly Grigoryevich Spassky

Anatoli Grigoryevich Spasski ( Russian Анатолий Григорьевич Спасский ; * 1895 in Beshiza (now part of Brjansk ); † 1970 in Moscow ) was a Russian metallurgist and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school, he worked in a wagon construction factory and then served in the Red Army in the Russian Civil War . In 1922 he was seconded to the Moscow Institute of National Economy (MINCh) . After obtaining his diploma, he became an assistant at the chair for metallography . At the same time, he worked as a technologist in an aerospace industry . In 1931 he became a lecturer at the chair. In 1932 he received his doctorate as a candidate in technical sciences . In 1938 he took over the management of the chair for foundry productionof the MINCh. In addition to his teaching activities, he was the chief engineer of the non-ferrous metal production plant and director of the GiproZwetMetObrabotka institute until 1943 . In 1952 he received his doctorate in technical sciences . 1953–1958 he was scientific director of the MINCh.

In 1962 he switched to the State Research and Project Institute for Rare Earth Metals (GiRedMet) as laboratory manager . From 1965 until his death he was professor of foundry production at the Moscow Metallurgical Evening Institute.

• Medal "For heroic work in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945"
