Anatololacerta is a genus of the real lizards that occurs with three species in western and southern Anatolia and some neighboring Aegean islands, including Samos , Ikaria and Rhodes .
features
Anatololacerta species are small lizards with a head-to-trunk length of around 7.5 cm. Males are often larger than the females. The head and torso of the lizards are slightly flattened. There are seven teeth on the premaxillary , the wing bones are missing.
The basic color of the Anatololacerta species is light blue-green to light brown. In addition, there is a more or less pronounced pattern of dark, light-lined stripes and small black or white spots. The ventral side is whitish or bluish, with a row of blue spots on the outermost row of ventral scales. The throat is often reddish with dark spots, especially in males and adolescents. The bruises on the shoulder region found in many lizards are missing. Young animals have bright green-blue tails.
Way of life
Like the species of the wall lizards ( Podarcis ), their sister genus, Anatololacerta species live climbing in stony and rocky biotopes, on walls and on piles of stones. During mating, the male bites into the flank of the female. A clutch consists of 3 to 8 eggs.
