Anaukpetlun
King Anaukpetlun ( Burmese အနောက်ဖက် လွန် , * April 1578 in Prome ; † May 29, 1628 near Pegu ) was ruler of the Kingdom of Ava in what is now Myanmar from 1606 to 1628 . He belonged to the Nyaungyan Dynasty, a branch of the Taungu Dynasty . After the collapse of the first Taungu empire with its seat in Pegu and the fragmentation of Burma into many individual rulers, he brought the country back under a unified rule.
Anaukpetlun was the son of Prince Nyaungyan and thus a grandson of Bayinnaung , who went down in history as a militarily very successful conqueror, and as such belonged to the Taungu dynasty , which ruled the area of what is now Burma between 1486 and 1752 . Anaukpetlun's uncle Nandabayin gradually lost control of the vast empire that Bayinnaung had left him over the course of his 18-year reign. Weakened by the war against Siam , a war between the individual Burmese principalities broke out in 1599, in the course of which the capital Pegu was destroyed. The "Second Burmese Empire" split up into many independent states. Anaukpetlun ascended the throne of 1606 Ava, which under the leadership of his father most of Upper Burma and the west of the river Salween situated Shan had brought -Staaten under his control.
He immediately led an invasion of central Burma, conquering Prome in 1607 and Taungu in 1610 . He continued his conquest as far as Syriam , where the Portuguese adventurer and merchant Filipe de Brito was in charge , and was able to take the city after a long siege in 1613 . Brito and the Portuguese along with the Eurasian population were enslaved and were available as good shooters for the later rulers of the Burmese Empire.
In the same year Anaukpetlun invaded Siam ( Siamese-Burmese War ) and was able to take parts of the Tenasserim Peninsula for a short time , but was pushed back there after a year by Portuguese and Siamese troops. In 1616 he subjugated the Mon kingdom on the south coast, taking Martaban and Tavoy . He continued to consolidate his power over Burma, but was murdered in 1628 by his son Minyedeippa , who feared his father's revenge because of a liaison with one of his concubines . This in turn was captured by Anaukpetlun's brother Thalun after about a year and sentenced to death.
