Daniela-Anca Boagiu (born November 30, 1968 in Constanța ) is a Romanian engineer and politician. As a member of the Democratic Liberal Party ( PD-L ), she was a member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies for Bucharest from 2000 to 2008 and sat in the Senate since 2008 , also for Bucharest. She was Minister of Transport in Mugur Isărescu's cabinet in 2000; in the cabinet of Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu from 2005 to 2007 she was Minister for European Integration and in the 2nd cabinet of Emil Boc she was Minister of Transport from September 3, 2010 to February 6, 2012.

Life

In 1995 Boagiu graduated from the engineering faculty of Ovidius University in the field of hydrotechnology. From December 1994 to January 1996 she was assistant director and later director of a construction project for the rehabilitation of two streets, DN38 and DN39, in the Constanța district . From the following month to March 1997 she was responsible for the procurement and spending of third-party funds for the National Road Administration. For two years from May 1997 she headed the Phare Management Program of the Ministry of Transport. From May 1999 to June 2000 she managed projects there with external funding. After the resignation of Traian Băsescu, who then became mayor of Bucharest, she was appointed Minister of Transport, but only from June to December 2000, since the Isărescu cabinet no longer formed the government after the election. In this election, however, she made it into parliament, where she was a member of the following committees for two legislative terms: Industry and Services (2000–2008) Equal opportunities between men and women (2000–2004); European integration (2000–2004); European affairs (2004–2008) and European integration (2004–2006). She was the Minister for European Integration from August 2005 to April 2007 when the ministry was dissolved after Romania's accession to the European Union .

In 2008 she was elected to the Senate and from then on was a member of the Committees European Affairs and Education, Science, Youth and Sport, and has been Vice President of the Senate since February 2010. Since September 3, 2010, Boagiu has been Minister of Transport again. She was appointed by Emil Boc after a cabinet reshuffle.

Boagiu is unmarried and has an adopted son. In 2010 she was awarded the degree of Knight of the French Legion of Honor. Within her party, she was the head of Bucharest Sector 2, Vice-President of the Permanent National Bureau (BPN) and Executive Secretary of the BPN's Economic Department.
