Anchor Point is a census-designated place in the Kenai Peninsula Borough in the US state of Alaska . Legend has it that the name comes from the time when James Cook was exploring the area. He is said to have lost an anchor in Anchor Point. The first settlers came at the beginning of the 20th century.
