Maria Ancilla Hohenegger

Maria Ancilla Hohenegger OSB (* 8. November 1954 ) is one of South Tyrol originating Benedictine nun and abbess of the monastery Säben .

Maria Ancilla Hohenegger comes from Langtaufers , today a fraction of the municipality of Graun . She initially worked as a kindergarten teacher before entering the monastery at the age of 25.

In 1980 she came to Säben. In 1996 she became the eleventh abbess to head the Benedictine monastery in Säben ; the election took place on February 13, the benediction on April 20, 1996. Her predecessor was Marcellina Pustet . Hohenegger's motto as abbess is "Ancilla Ancillarum Christi - maid of the maids of Christ".

In 2009 she received the Cross of Merit of the State of Tyrol for her services as abbess of the Säben monastery. In particular, she campaigned for the restoration of the lords' tower of the Säben Benedictine monastery, which is financed by the Bolzano regional government.

At the end of 2002 Hohenegger was "the face" of an advertising campaign by Raiffeisen Landesbank Südtirol . A large-format advertisement with Hohenegger appeared in the Christmas editions of the local newspapers in South Tyrol , in which she wishes bank customers and newspaper readers a Merry Christmas. Hohenegger donated the fee of 5,000 euros for charitable purposes.
