And Now the Legacy Begins ( English "And now the legacy begins") is the debut album of Canadian hip-hop duo Dream Warriors . It was released on April 23, 1991 on the Island Records label . The album is considered one of the best alternative hip hop records of the Golden Age and became a huge hit in Canada and internationally.
Singles
My Definition of a Boombastic Jazz Style , the album's most successful single, contained samples of Quincy Jones' track " Soul Bossa Nova " - which was known to Canadian viewers as the longstanding theme song for the Definition game show . The piece became a Top 20 hit in Canada and Europe and won a Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year in 1992 . Other notable singles were Wash Your Face in My Sink and Ludi .

The album received wide critical acclaim. Spin magazine recommended the album, praising the "stunning, almost seamless, sample-driven tracks." Allmusic rated the album with 4½ out of 5 stars and noted that the duo came up with a variety of inspired samples and groves, from jazz to harder beats, with style and skill. It reached number 18 in the UK album charts and number 34 in Canada, where it was awarded gold certification by the Canadian Recording Industry Association . Over 800,000 copies have been sold worldwide
