Andamlak Belihu (born November 20, 1998 ) is an Ethiopian athlete who specializes in long-distance and cross-country runs . In 2018 he became vice African champion over 10,000 meters.

Athletic career

Andamlak Belihu first competed in the national championships in 2017. He was able to win a title over 10,000 meters in 28:32 minutes straight away. Just a month later, he improved his time by more than a minute and then competed in the World Championships in London in August . He ran again more than ten seconds faster than his time from June and ended up in tenth place with a time of 27: 08.94 min. In November he took part in his first international race in the half marathon. He stayed in New Delhi for less than an hour and finished second. During 2018 he took part in a large number of half marathons spread across Europe and Asia. His best time was again in New Delhi. A good two months earlier he competed over 10,000 meters at the African Championships in Nigeria. He ran a time of 29: 11.09 minutes and secured the double victory for the Ethiopians as second behind Jemal Yimer .

In spring 2019 Belihu competed at the World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus, Denmark. He started in the adult race over 10 kilometers and finished eighth with a time of 32:29 minutes. In July he improved his time in Hengelo over the 10,000 meters to 26: 53.15 minutes. He almost succeeded in confirming this time at the World Championships in Doha in October . There he was around three seconds behind his best time and crossed the finish line in fifth overall. In October he competed again in the New Delhi half marathon. With his time of 59:10 minutes he ran, as of 2020, he moved up to 41st place on the all-time world best list over this distance. In addition, he approached the course record in the Indian capital within four seconds.
