The Anderson Peninsula is an approximately 11 km long peninsula on the Oates coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land , which ends at Belousov Point . It lies between the Gillett Ice Shelf and the Suworow Glacier on the coastal foothills of the Wilson Hills .
The area was mapped using the United States Geological Survey and aerial photographs by the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Lieutenant Richard E. Anderson of the Civil Engineer Corps (CEC) of the US Navy who served at McMurdo Station during two Operation Deep Freeze campaigns .
