András Bartay

András Bartay [ ɒndraːʃ bɒrtɒi ], even Endre Bartay [ ɛndrɛ bɒrtɒi ] (* 4. July 1799 in Széplak in county Abaúj , Kingdom of Hungary (now Slovakia); † 4. October 1854 in Mainz ) was a Hungarian composer .

Life

Bartay was the director of the Hungarian National Theater from 1843 to 1844. He later lived as a concert conductor in Paris and Hamburg . He composed three operas , a melodrama , an oratorio , ballets and several masses .
