André-Damien-Ferdinand Cardinal Jullien PSS , also Andrea Jullien (born October 25, 1882 in Pélussin , France , † January 11, 1964 in Rome ) was a Curia Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

André Jullien received his theological and philosophical training in Paris and Rome. He received on 1 October 1905, the sacrament of Holy Orders . After further studies, he taught at the seminary in Lyon from 1908 to 1912 . From 1912 to 1922 he worked as the personal secretary of Séraphin Many at the Roman court. In 1918 he joined the Saint-Sulpice company . In 1922 André Jullien became auditor of the Roman Rota , in 1944 dean in the same position . The bon mot circulated about him: "Jullien has lived in Rome for 20, 30, 40 years, but has never seen the city at night."

Pope John XXIII accepted him in 1958 as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry San Giorgio in Velabro in the cardinals college . In 1962 the Pope appointed him titular bishop of Corone and donated him episcopal ordination ; Cardinal Giuseppe Pizzardo and Cardinal Benedetto Aloisi Masella were co-consecrators . André Jullien took part in the first three sessions of the Second Vatican Council and in the conclave of 1963 .

He died of leukemia in Rome on January 11, 1964 and was buried in the local church of San Giorgio in Velabro.
