André Venceslau Valentim Macanga (born May 14, 1978 in Luanda ), known as André or André Macanga , is a former Angolan football player and current coach .

Career

As a player

Macanga began his professional career in 1999 at SC Salgueiros in the first Portuguese league and moved to league rivals FC Alverca in 2000 . In 2001 he was then signed by Vitória Guimarães , in the next seasons he played for Académica Coimbra and Boavista Porto . In the 2004/2005 season Macanga played in Turkey for Gaziantepspor . In 2005 he signed a contract with Al-Kuwait SC . He stayed here for five years and was three times Kuwaiti champion and won various national cup competitions in 2009 and the continental AFC Cup . In 2010 he moved to the Kuwaiti club al-Jahra , before he went to al-Shamal SC in Qatar in 2013 and ended his career there.

From 1999 to 2002 Macanga played 65 international matches for the Angolan national team . He was also in the squad at the 2006 World Cup , where he was eliminated with Angola in the preliminary round. Macanga was sent off in the goalless draw against Mexico after handball with the yellow-red card . In 2008 he reached the quarter-finals for the first time with Angola at the African Cup .

As a trainer

After the end of his playing career, Macanga worked as a coach. He was already the assistant coach of the Angolan national soccer team and is currently training the Angolan first division club CRD Libolo .
