André Sarrasani

André Sarrasani (born November 3, 1972 in Heidelberg ) is a German magician ( illusionist ) and head of the circus Sarrasani .

Working life

André Sarrasani grew up in a circus family. His mother, née Ingrid Wimmer, adopted under the name Stosch-Sarrasani, was an artist, his illegitimate father Fritz Mey rebuilt the Sarrasani circus after the Second World War.

After completing school at the Odenwaldschule boarding school in Ober-Hambach , Sarrasani completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith before returning to his parents' company in 1989 to learn the skills of an illusionist together with the offspring in the children's circus.

In 1992 André Sarrasani became the technical director of the circus and produced his first show in 1995 with Noah's Ark - Arche Nova . He deepened his training as an illusionist with artist agent Lee Pee Ville, who had himself been a successful illusionist. He used role models from Las Vegas to design his early programs, Magic Vision , Fantastic Imaginations and Sensations . A tiger and a white baby tiger played a prominent role in his shows as a “sorcerer's apprentice”.

In 2000 he took over the management of Sarrasani as the youngest manegen boss. When he joined the management team, the company expanded its business area beyond the classic circus business. This included renting out tents, hiring individual artists and organizing complete shows, including catering.

In 2007, he sat on the jury of the RTL casting show Das Supertalent alongside Dieter Bohlen and Ruth Moschner .

On July 1, 2016, Sarrasani GmbH filed for bankruptcy . The newly founded Sarrasani Event GmbH, on the other hand, returned to Radebeul after 115 years, where Sarrasani briefly ran the "theater bar" in the Goldene Weintraube next to the state theaters of Saxony as a tenant.

In Dresden, Sarrasani operates the Trocadero tent at the Elbepark shopping center. In the 2017/18 season, 11,000 visitors came to the show.

Private

In the social field, André Sarrasani has been involved as patron of the German Self-Help for Congenital Immune Defects (DSAI) since 2003 .

Sarrasani is in a relationship with the artist Edit Slavova, has a daughter and a son.
