André Vincent Becquerel
André Vincent Becquerel (* 1893 in Saint-André-Farivillers , France ; † 1981 in Paris , France) was a French sculptor of Art Deco .
Life
Becquerel studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris with Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier . He specialized in sculptures of animals, especially predators, horses, cats and ornithological subjects, which he exhibited from 1914 to 1922 in the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français . He was an elected member of society.
His bronze works were mostly produced by the sculptor Edmond Etling , but also by Max Le Verrier and often included elements made of ivory. He created a monumental plaster statue for the 1937 Paris World Exhibition .
