André da Rocha is a city with about 1,300 inhabitants in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil .

It is located about 180 km north of Porto Alegre . Neighboring are the places Lagoa Vermelha , Nova Prata , Protásio Alves , Guabiju and others. André da Rocha was originally part of the municipality of Lagoa Vermelha.
history
André da Rocha was separated from Lagoa Vermelha in 1988 and named after the first judge of the district court (desembargador) of this region, Manuel André da Rocha. He took an active part in the defense of the city during the revolution of 1893.
