Lagoa Vermelha is a city with 27,834 (2018 estimate) inhabitants in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil . It is located about 320 km north of Porto Alegre . The following places are adjacent: in the north Santo Expedito do Sul and Tupanci do Sul , in the northeast Esmeralda , in the east Capão Bonito do Sul , in the southeast Muitos Capões , in the south André da Rocha and in the west Sananduva , Caseiros , Ibiraiaras , São Jorge and Guabiju . Originally, Lagoa Vermelha was part of the Vacaria municipality .
