Andrea Anderson

Andrea Anderson ( Andrea Arlene Anderson ; born September 17, 1977 in Harbor City ) is an American sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .

At the Junior World Championships in Sydney in 1996 she won silver over 100 m and in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

In 1999 she was fourth at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg and won silver with the US team in the 4-by-400-meter relay . At the World Championships in Seville , she was part of the 4-by-400-meter US relay, which eventually won silver.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, she won the gold medal in the 4-by-400-meter relay as the runner used in the preliminary run. After Marion Jones was disqualified for doping in 2007 , the IOC Executive Committee decided on April 10, 2008 to disqualify the United States relay altogether. Anderson and the other three runners concerned took legal action against this decision before the International Court of Justice (CAS), which ruled in their favor in July 2010.
