Andrea Barlesi (born June 15, 1991 in Paris , France ) is an Italian - Belgian racing driver . He competed in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in 2012 .

Career in motorsport

Barlesi began his motorsport career in karting in 2005 , in which he was active until 2008. In 2009 he switched to touring car racing and took part in the French Renault Clio Cup . In 2010 Barlesi switched to endurance racing and competed for DAMS in the FLM class of the Le Mans Series . He won a race and together with Gary Chalandon was the overall winner of this class. In 2011 he took part in five races of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup . He started for OAK Racing in the LMP2 class. His best result was a third place in the LMP2 class. He also took part in a race in the Blancpain Endurance Series .

In 2012 Barlesi returned to touring car racing. At SUNRED Engineering he received a cockpit in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Since there were not enough current engines for the SEAT León , it started with an older SEAT diesel engine at the season opener. At the second event, he received the more up -to- date SUNRED 1.6T engine, which, however, had originally been rejected. After the second race weekend, a 15th place is his best result.

The last active season of Barlesi was 2014. After the end of the season he did not contest any more races.
