Andrea Hilgers

Andrea Hilgers (born September 22, 1962 in Erkelenz-Immerath ; † June 7, 2019 in Braunschweig ) was a German politician of the SPD and a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life

Andrea Hilgers studied political science and sociology after graduating from high school . She received her doctorate in sociology from the University of Hamburg in 1994 . She was a member of the Ver.di union and the organizations “Spielhaus Alsterdorf”, “Winterhuder Bürgererverein”, “ Falken ” and “ Arbeiterwohlfahrt ” (AWO). From 2007 until her death she worked as managing director of the faculty for humanities and educational sciences at the TU Braunschweig.

Andrea Hilgers had been a member of the SPD since February 1, 1987. From 1988 to 1991 she was a member of the Juso district board of Hamburg-Nord . From 1991 to 1995 and 1998 to 2004 she held the post of deputy SPD district chairman in Hamburg-Nord. From 1993 to 1994 she was a deputy of the environmental agency for her party .

Hilgers was a member of the Hamburg citizenship from October 8, 1997 until her early retirement for professional reasons in October 2007. She represented the SPD in the family, children and youth committee and in the budget committee. In addition, she was a member of the commission of inquiry “Juvenile delinquency and its social causes”. She was also a member of the Parliamentary Committees of Inquiry (PUA) on "Transparency, Legality and Appropriateness of Personnel Selection and Decisions by the Senate" (May 2003 to February 2004) and " Closed Accommodation at Feuerbergstrasse" (since April 2005).
From 2000 to 2006 Hilgers was the full-time parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group. She was a specialist spokesperson for youth and children. Her political priorities were child and youth policy, the liberal rule of law and finances.
