Andrea Schwendemann
Andrea Schwendemann (born July 1, 1971 in Triberg in the Black Forest ) is a German author , journalist and copywriter .
Life
Andrea Schwendemann was born and raised in the Black Forest. After graduating from high school, she lived and worked in Brazil and Ireland , then studied German and geography in Cologne and Freiburg. She volunteered at a magazine publisher in Freiburg, where she then worked as an editor for four years. In 2006 she was appointed editor-in-chief of National Geographic World ( Gruner + Jahr ), and from 2010 she worked in the same position for GEOlino Extra (Gruner + Jahr). In 2012 she started her own business and since then has headed the Text & Concept office in Freiburg and is co-owner of the children's media office in Hamburg.
Schwendemann has published around 20 children's non-fiction books which, according to their own statements, have sold 100,000 times and which are translated into Dutch, Spanish, Danish, Polish and other languages. She is on a reading tour with her works and is a guest at Lit.Cologne , the Leipzig Book Fair , the Frankfurt Book Fair , the Munich Book Show , and the Ravensburger Reading Festival .
In addition to children's books, she writes reports and interviews for National Geographic , Flow, Die Zeit , Süddeutsche Zeitung , Spiegel Online and MagazinSCHULE . She also works as a copywriter.
Schwendemann is married and lives in Freiburg and Hamburg.
