Stumbling block for Bernhard Czopp at Andreas-Hofer-Straße 18

The Andreas-Hofer-Straße ( Italian Via Andreas Hofer ) is a street northeast of the old town area of the South Tyrolean capital Bozen . It connects the Vintlerstraße with the Zwölfmalgreiner Platz (customs bar). It is named after Andreas Hofer , the leader of the Tyrolean popular uprising of 1809.

The street has a continuous east-west gradient. It starts at the Landesfürstliches Amtshaus , today's South Tyrolean Museum of Nature , leads along the Batzenhäusl , the former wine tavern of the Teutonic Order , and reaches the old customs post, today's Zwölfmalgreiner Platz , at the Löwengrube inn (the former customs house) .

The oldest name of the street was Zollgasse ; The traffic on the supraregional Brenner route to Bozen came in and out of it again. In 1901, the street was named after the Bolzano honorary citizen Andrä Kirchebner (1825-1891), councilor and chamber of commerce council and chairman of the commercial association. The street name was revised by the fascist administration in 1929 and the monolingual name Via Ca 'de Bezzi was introduced. Only after the end of the Second World War did the street, initially called Batzenhäuslgasse , become Andreas-Hofer-Straße.

In 2015, a stumbling block was laid in Andreas-Hofer-Strasse (in front of the former house entrance No. 18, which is now a garage entrance) , reminding of the Holocaust victim Bernhard Czopp (1879–1944).

The Andreas-Hofer-Straße is only accessible in a single lane in a west-east direction.
