Andreas Böer

Andreas Böer (born January 25, 1950 in Reichenbach / OL ; † January 3, 2020 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1991 to 2015 he was mayor of Reichenbach / OL. From 2006 to 2015 he was also part-time chairman of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .

Böer was born the son of a pastor and trained as a radio technician. In the final phase of the GDR he became a member of the New Forum and was involved in various citizen groups. In 1991 he became mayor of his hometown and has also been a member of the CDU parliamentary group in the district council of the Görlitz district since 2008 (previously since 1999 in the Lower Silesian Oberlausitz district ).

As Synod President, he held the highest lay office of the regional church, which he exercised from 1990 to 2003 in its predecessor, the Evangelical Church of Silesian Upper Lusatia . After the reconstitution of the Synod in 2015, he was defeated in the renewed candidacy of the opposing candidate Sigrun Neuwerth.
