Andreas Burckhardt (politician)

Andreas Burckhardt (born May 21, 1951 in Basel ) is a Swiss politician ( LDP ) and manager .

Burckhardt attended high school on Münsterplatz , which he graduated with the Matura . He then studied Jus at the Universities of Basel and Geneva and received his doctorate . Burckhardt belonged to the secondary school association Paedagogia Basiliensis and is a member of the Zofingia .

As a member of the Burckhardt family and the « Daigs », he traditionally belongs to the LDP. He began his political career in the Citizens 'Council and as President of the Basel Citizens' Hospital . From 1997 to 2011 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt , and in 2006/07 he was President of the Grand Council.

From 1994 to 2011 he was director of the Basel Chamber of Commerce . In April 2011 he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baloise .

In the military, Andreas Burckhardt was Colonel and Commander of the City Command 211 (Basel) from 1997 to 1999. From 1996 to 2003 he was chief rifle master of the Basel fire rifles .

Burckhardt is married and has three children.
