Andreas Calagius

Andreas Calagius (born November 30, 1549 in Breslau , Principality of Breslau ; † November 21, 1609 ibid) was a German poet and educator .

Life

Calagius studied philology and obtained a master's degree in this subject. He then became rector of the Glatzer Konvikt . In 1576 he returned to Breslau. As a professor he became a member of the College of the Magdalenaeum . 1579 he became tutor to the Elisabethan rose professor there and went into the 1586 retirement .

Calagius wrote a large number of Latin poems and several philological works for teaching, as well as some German-language dramas. He was an imperial-crowned poet .
