Andreas Galk

Andreas Galk (born November 7, 1970 ) is a German author of books for children and young people who also wrote plays for children and young people's theater. He is one of the winners of the German Fantastic Prize 2019.

biography

Galk graduated as an archaeologist in Bonn . After completing his studies, he worked for three years as a tour manager for a German agency and accompanied theater and orchestral productions. From 2000 he turned to writing, first as a freelance journalist and from 2002 as a playwright. His topics are above all bullying , abuse , child trafficking , the penal system for young people and dealing with Satanism .

In 2009, his play Fragile - Beware Zerbrechlich , which deals with domestic abuse and sexual violence against children, was awarded a sponsorship award by the German Child Protection Association and filmed for use in school lessons. The manuscript of this work can be downloaded free of charge from various websites as part of the Fragile project . Galks pieces are performed in German-speaking countries. Galk's most recent publications are the play Alone @ Home - a TV show for the whole family (2019) and the novel version of his play Alles wird gut , which was published by Autumnus Verlag in 2012 under the title Obey me and do what you want . His play Das Camp was awarded a Golden Bird in 2014 in the "Best Production" category as part of the International Youth Theater Prize of the Reiman Academy, the Papageno Award, and was finally performed at the Vienna Burgtheater . A new production of the play was also awarded first prize in the “Youth I” category in 2017 as part of the School and Youth Theater Days of the Hagen Theater . With his short story Wisteria , Galk won the anthology contest of SadWolf Verlag in the category "Noir History" in 2018. The anthology of the winning titles , Noir 1 , won the German Fantastic Prize 2019 as the best German anthology.

Since summer 2019, Galk has also been lending his voice to the weekly German-language audio podcast Yggdrasil-Tapes . At the time of the 2020 corona pandemic, Galk, in collaboration with studio musician Christoph Cremer, published the radio play Schmuddelkinder , which is freely accessible on the Internet, with numerous children and young people who had previously recorded their voices individually at home.
