Andreas Grund (born September 1, 1960 in Neustrelitz ) is a non-party German local politician in the Mecklenburg Lake District and has been the mayor of Neustrelitz since 2003.

Job and family

After Grund had graduated from high school at EOS Neustrelitz in 1979 and then completed basic military service in a road construction regiment, he studied civil engineering from 1981 at the Dresden University of Transport , specializing in road construction and traffic; he graduated in 1986 with a degree in engineering. After working in road construction in Neubrandenburg and Neustrelitz, he moved to STRABAG AG in 2003 , where he continued to work as a senior construction manager in road construction.

Andreas Grund is married and has three children and two grandchildren.

Political career

Andreas Grund states that he has been involved in local politics since 1989 and was in the Neustrelitz city council from 1990 to 1999. In 2003 he was elected full-time mayor of the city. He is a board member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania City and Municipal Council and moved to the Mecklenburg Lake District Council in 2014. On April 22, 2012, Grund was re-elected as mayor for a second term, which, according to the statutes, will last until 2021 .
