Andreas Hornig

Andreas Hornig (born March 23, 1980 in Wiesbaden ) is a former German basketball player . He played 70 games in the national basketball league and was a junior national player.

career

Hornig, who completed international matches for the German U20 national team, played in the youth team of MTV Kronberg and in the 1999/2000 season for second division TV Langen before moving to Murray State University ( Kentucky, USA ) in 2000 . There the 2.13 meter tall indoor player played in the NCAA and studied business administration . Hornig stayed at the university until 2004. During his time at Murray State University Hornig was used in a total of 104 games and achieved averages of 3.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. His statistically best season in college was 2000/01, when he averaged 5.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per encounter in 29 games. In the 2001/02 and 2003/04 game years, he won the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championship with Murray State. He switched to the professional camp in 2004.

Between 2004 and 2006 he was in the service of the Bundesliga club Tübingen . His first Bundesliga season 2004/05 was also his best in terms of statistical values: Hornig was used in 27 games during this season and scored an average of 5.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per encounter.

In 2006 he was signed by Tübingen's Bundesliga competitor BG Karlsruhe and strengthened the team during the 2006/07 season. Hornig strengthened the VfL Kirchheim Knights from 2007 . In the 2007/08 season he was named “Center of the Year” of the 2. Bundesliga ProB by the specialist portal eurobasket.com , having scored 11.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game for Kirchheim over the course of the year had booked. Born in Wiesbaden, he had made a strong contribution to Kirchheim's promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA .

After the end of the 2008/09 season, Hornig left Kirchheim and retired to the Regionalliga. From 2009 to 2011 he strengthened the ASC Theresianum Mainz . In the 2009/10 game year he scored an average of 15.5 points, 14.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocked throws per match for the ASC in 24 regional league appearances and was named “Team of the Year” by the basketball service eurobasket.com Appointed Regionalliga Südwest. In 2011 he returned to MTV Kronberg.

In 2019 he became a member of the management of a car sharing provider from Wiesbaden .
