Andreas Langenscheidt

Andreas Langenscheidt (born May 17, 1952 in Berlin ) is a German publisher .

Life

Andreas Langenscheidt is the eldest son of the publisher Karl Ernst Tielebier-Langenscheidt and great-great-grandson of the publisher's founder Gustav Langenscheidt . He studied industrial engineering at the University of Munich and then completed the Master of Business Administration course at UCLA in the USA . In 1981 he joined the Langenscheidt publishing group. Initially, he stayed in the USA to build up the Langenscheidt Group's cartography business and to found the Langenscheidt Publishers Inc. branch in New York. In 1983 he returned to Germany. In 1990 Andreas Langenscheidt became the managing and personally liable partner of the Langenscheidt publishing group (2005 turnover: 255 million euros) and the successor to his father Tielebier-Langenscheidt. He was also chairman of the supervisory board of the Mannheim publishing house Bibliographisches Institut & FA Brockhaus . His younger brother Florian Langenscheidt withdrew voluntarily from the operational management of the Langenscheidt publishing group in 1994, but initially continued to be involved as a limited partner in the Langenscheidt publishing group. In 2011, Andreas Langenscheidt was replaced as managing director of Langenscheidt Verlag . After the sale of almost all major holdings, the publishing house was sold to Günther Holding GmbH in early 2013.
