Leonhard Creuzer (born November 20, 1768 in Marburg , † March 3, 1844 in Marburg; full name Christoph Andreas Leonhard Creuzer ) was a German theologian and the older brother of the philologist Friedrich Creuzer . Both belonged to the Circle of Friends of the Marburg Early Romanticists, who met in Friedrich Carl von Savigny's forest courtyard.

Life

After studying theology at the Philipps University of Marburg and the University of Jena , Creuzer first became a Lutheran preacher at the Elisabeth Church in Marburg, before he was appointed full professor of practical theology in 1803. From 1822 he was a member of the consistory , which gave him the title of senior consistory in 1836.

Services

He made a contribution to the city of Marburg for his conscientiousness and fulfillment of his duties, so that in 1834 he was made an honorary citizen . During his academic career he made a contribution to charity , which had been under his administration since 1828.
