Andreas Schomaker (* 1959 in Oldenburg ) is a German lawyer. From 2011 to 2018 he was police chief of the police department of Saxony-Anhalt North .

Life

After completing his military service, Schomaker studied law in Kiel and Oldenburg. After passing the state examination in Kiel and Oldenburg, he first worked in Hamburg for an insurance company in the area of ​​claims and benefits. After the reunification in the GDR , he went to Saxony-Anhalt in July 1991 in the then district government of Magdeburg . There he was head of the department for basic questions of security in the area of ​​internal security. For four years he worked in the Ministry of the Interior in the municipal department, among other things, with questions of corruption. From July 1998 to 2002 he acted as police chief of the Halberstadt police department as (successor toJohannes Lottmann ), who was appointed inspector of the Saxony-Anhalt police and thus the highest police officer in the state. Schomaker then became head of the department for personnel matters, training and further training as well as service law for the police in the Ministry of the Interior. The controversial trial of the death of a pensioner who was stabbed to death by a right-wing extremist fell during his time. On December 1, 2011, he was introduced to the office of President of the Saxony-Anhalt North Police Department by Saxony-Anhalt's Interior Minister Holger Stahlknecht . Schomaker replaced police chief Wolfgang Mönckmeyer , who was retiring.

Schomaker was reported anonymously by colleagues in 2016 for misconduct. He was then removed from his post for a period of six months. After investigations by the public prosecutor's office revealed that none of the allegations were confirmed, the proceedings were discontinued. Schomaker had challenged a delegation to the State Administration Office planned by the Ministry of the Interior before the Magdeburg Administrative Court and won the case. He had also refused a delegation to the Ministry of the Interior in Magdeburg. From August 2016 until his return to his post as police chief of the North Police Department on February 28, 2017, the official business was carried out by Chief Police Director Tom-Oliver Langhans. Since July 2018 he has headed a department in the Ministry of the Interior of Saxony-Anhalt.

Schomaker is married, has two sons and lives in the Magdeburg district of Ottersleben .
