Andreas Schranz (born May 2, 1979 in Eisenerz ) is a former Austrian soccer goalkeeper who played six international matches for the Austrian national soccer team from 2004 to 2010 .

Club career

The first stop was the local WSV Eisenerz . After successful games in his youth, he moved to FC Trofaiach in the Styrian regional league. In 1997 he became the third goalkeeper for the professional team and at the same time the first goalkeeper for the amateur team of the Grazer AK . His sponsor at the time was the then trainer of the GAK amateurs, Werner Gregoritsch .

With Gregoritsch's appointment as head coach, Schranz became reserve goalie alongside standard goalkeeper Franz Almer . Due to Almers injuries, Schranz repeatedly made appearances in the championship, cup and European cup. After a serious shoulder injury in Almers in the winter of 2003, Schranz became number 1 in the athletic goal and maintained this position even after Almers recovered. In a training accident in the spring of 2004, in the middle of the decisive phase for the GAK's first professional championship title and one day before the semi-final game against SV Ried , Schranz suffered torn capsule and ligament tears in his ankle and was unable to play the decisive games in the league and in Participate in cup competition. After his recovery in autumn 2004, he was immediately back to the goalkeeper. In spring 2007 he lost his regular place to the Slovenian Sašo Fornezzi .

After the bankruptcy of the GAK, Schranz switched to the newly founded SK Austria Kärnten during the summer break of 2007 . In Klagenfurt he was immediately the goalkeeper, but could not prevent bankruptcy there after three years. After remaining without a club in autumn 2010, he signed a two-year contract with SV Grödig in December , and was only used in five league games in the first season due to a tear in the meniscus, another injury and a strain. In the following season he was a regular with the Salzburg team and was in goal in 33 of the 36 league games; in the other three games he was unused on the bench. After his contract expired, he was without a club, but then ended his active career and returned to his homeland. Since then, he has been appearing at various local clubs as a goalkeeping coach. Among other things, he was the goalkeeping coach of the U-17 team of the ATuS Niklasdorf , the goalkeeping coach of the first and second combat team, the U-17 team of SC Bruck / Mur and the goalkeeping coach of the U-17 team of SV Oberaich .

National team

The Styrian made his debut on April 28, 2004 against Luxembourg , just before his injury. Immediately after his recovery, he was scheduled as a single goalie for the World Cup qualifying match against England in Vienna in September 2004 , but was injured while warming up and Alexander Manninger took his place.
