Andreas Skjold

Andreas Drinen Skjold (born October 12, 1929 in Bergen ; † August 12, 2003 ) was a Norwegian jazz trombonist .

Skjold began his career in 1947–1951 with Finn Johannessen in Bergen, before he worked in Oslo (1952–1954), where he was a member of Kjell Johansen's experimental band and played with Verden Rundt's All Stars, with which the first recordings were made. From 1954 he lived in Stockholm and worked in the local jazz scene until 1975, a. a. in the orchestras of Malte Johnson , Bengt Hallberg , Thore Erling , Bengt Arne Wallin Harry Arnold , Putte Wickman , Arne Domnérus , Jan Johansson and Alice Babs ; 1868–75 with the Carl-Henrik Norins Orchestra. After his return to Norway in 1975 he led the Bergen Big Band and his own quintet (with Vigleik Storaas and Helge Knutsen, among others ); He also played in Norway with the Big Chief Jazz Band (with Tore Faye , Eivin Sannes ) and with Arvid Genius and Dag Arnesen . In the field of jazz he was involved in 103 recording sessions from 1954 to 1983, in addition to the aforementioned also with Monica Zetterlund , Lars Gullin , Georg Riedel and most recently with Nils Breistein / Arvid Genius.
