Dag Syver Arnesen (born May 3, 1950 in Bergen , Norway ) is a Norwegian jazz pianist with a dozen albums under his own name.

Arnesen studied classical piano with Jiri Hlinka at the Grieg Academy of the University of Bergen and received a scholarship contract at the Theater Den Nationale Scene . He then switched to jazz and played with the Arvid Genius Orchestra in the 1970s, leading his own 3-13-piece combos.

From the 1980s to the present day, he has released numerous albums under his own name. He is still a member of the Bergen Big Band. Arnesen lived in Oslo for ten years and played in the jazz bands Søyr, Orleysa, various combos led by the guitarist Thorgeir Stubø , singer Susanne Fuhr , the saxophonists Knut Riisnæs and Odd Riisnæs and the orchestra director Kjell Karlsen. He has worked on three albums with the Sigurd Ulveseth Quartet based in Bergen . Arnesen also ran the local Evans jazz club for a time. He lives mainly in mountains again.

Arnesen toured in half of Europe as well as in Japan, China, India, Vietnam, Argentina, USA and Canada in clubs and festivals.

His melodic style is similar to that of Jan Johansson .
