Eivin Sannes

Eivin Johan Sannes (* October 7, 1937 as Johann Sannes in Kristiansund ; † September 3, 2019 ) was a Norwegian jazz pianist and organist.

Career

Eivin Sannes grew up in Hønefoss and began his career in 1958/59 as a musician in Pete Brown's orchestra . He then worked in the Bergens jazz scene in the 1960s , where he played regularly with his trio as a house band at the Hotel Neptun from 1961 to 1965 ; he stepped u. a. with Dexter Gordon , Karin Krog , Eje Thelin , Bernt Rosengren , Bjørn Johansen , Frode Thingnæs , Inez Cavanaugh , Don Byas , Sahib Shihab , Leo Wright , Albert Nicholas , Rolf Billberg and Kenny Dorham . He also played in Per Brevig's Big Band (1962–1965).

After his engagement in Neptune he played in restaurants and ocean liners; He also worked with Arvid Genius (1969), the Bergen Big Band and the Bergenskvintetten formation . In 1972 he moved to Stavanger , where he only appeared sporadically for a while, including in 1977 with Carmell Jones and Leo Wright at the Molde Jazz Festival. In 1979 he moved to Oslo . In the 1980s he played there with his own formations and in the bands of Harald Gundhus , Ditlef Eckhoff , Atle Hammer , Bjarne Nerem , Harald Bergersen , Per Nyhaug , Paul Weeden , Rowland Greenberg , as well as with the Big Chief Jazzband with Tore Faye / Andreas Skjold / Monica Borgen .
