Per Nyhaug

Per Nyhaug (born March 2, 1926 in Oslo ; † September 1, 2009 ) was a Norwegian orchestral and jazz musician ( vibraphone , drums ).

Nyhaug initially worked as an orchestral musician in Kringkastingsorkestret from 1961 to 1991 , and he was also a timpanist and percussionist in Den norske Operas Orkester (1958). In the Oslo jazz scene he worked with his own band made up of Willy Andresen , Fred Thunes and Frank Ottersen . He also played with Ragnar Robertsen , Olav Wernersen , Arnstein Johansen , Eilif Holm , Rowland Greenberg , Robert Normann and Egil Kapstad .

In the 1980s he worked with his Per Nyhaug studio band , with whom he recorded the albums Groovin 'High (1988) and To Gemini (1993) for Gemini Records . Members of his band were Bjørn Kjellemyr (bass), Karl Johan Helgesen and Svein Christiansen (drums); Soloists included Arvid Genius , Bernt Anker Steen , Bjarne Nerem , Eivin Sannes , Frode Thingnæs , Harald Bergersen , Johan Bergli , Rowland Greenberg and Tore Faye . Nyhaug also played in the jazz formation Radiostorbandet, as an orchestral musician in the Oslo Filharmoniske Orkester and in Den norske Operas orkester as well as Kapellmeister in the Oslo restaurant Regnbuen . In 1987 he received the Gammleng award in the studio category .
